I may only be 10 years old, but I stand firm in my thought that if you believe in yourself, you’re never “too” anything to chase big dreams. I am on a mission to bring back kindness and I am so excited you made it here to my mission.
My little brother Parker was diagnosed with Autism when he was 2 years old. Over the many years of being his big sister I have seen the hardships of what it is like to be labeled “different” or “weird”. My brother often has tendencies that are not socially accepted and through this he is often ridiculed or made fun of by his peers. I wanted to show him that he can be and do anything he wants to in this world despite his differences, and help educate society that Parker is just misunderstood and if at the bare minimum we are kind to those we least understand, collectively we could make a huge impact on their mental health.
Heart and Harper started out as a little hobby that I did for fun. In March of 2021, when the world seemed to be in a really hard place I asked my mom if I could start a bracelet making business. She told me no. I came back to her with a business plan because surely I thought that would be the ticket to a yes, she still said no, afterall I was “only” 8. I came back to her a third time with my business plan and I told her I wanted to donate the proceeds to various causes to try and show everyone how easy kindness is in honor of Parker. I got a quick yes.
Maybe all of this seems like a big goal for a little girl, but I knew I could do it… I knew If I could just get my message out there that kind is still very cool, I could start to slowly change the way that adults view things, afterall, you guys really are overcomplicating this kindness thing. In 2022 for my 9th birthday I asked my parents if we could take my once hobby and turn it into a full on business, and Heart and Harper was born. To date we’ve raised almost $75,000 and I couldn't be more thankful to everyone who has supported my dream thus far.
Individually we can’t always do much, but collectively, we can change the world.
And remember, be kind to someone today, it’s all that truly matters.
